What others have to say about Lisa...
Dr. Rick Repicky
Fmr Superintendent Fraser Public Schools
August 9, 2020
Lisa was our school district police liaison officer during the Douglas-Stoneman High School shootings. Schools were under tremendous pressure from students, parents and staff to minimize danger and resolve student conflicts. In my 36 years in education, I never saw a time where so many seriously perceived threats were condensed into such a short time period.
Thankfully, Officer Pettyes was there to assist. A model officer, she combined backbone with heart. Although schools limit access of liaison officers with students, I relied on her in almost the same capacity of an assistant principal. Together we investigated several threats that surfaced in the wake of the Florida shootings. Her exemplary performance stemmed from years of relationship building with Fraser students. As a D.A.R.E. officer, Lisa spent as much time building bridges with students as she did making them aware of the law. She can see the big picture and worked closely with the school in revising its emergency policies.
She used the same approach as a co-founder of Families Against Narcotics (FAN), one of the most effective grass roots drug-fighting movements in Michigan.
I cannot think of a better person to teach conflict resolution, safety and first aid.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my admiration for Lisa Pettyes, an individual who has provided exceptional service to the public in her capacity as a law enforcement officer for the past 25 years.
I first met Lisa when she was a cadet in the Macomb Police Academy. She made a great first impression as a law enforcement candidate who was insightful, very energetic and highly intelligent. It was therefore no surprise that shortly after graduation, she was hired by the Fraser Department of Public Safety.
Lisa spent her entire career serving that community, but she made an impact far beyond Fraser's city boundaries. She is known throughout the region as someone with compassion for people, and more specifically, young adults and children. She is especially gifted at assisting individuals who face major life challenges and she was heavily involved in a variety of prevention programs.
Lisa's most notable work was on behalf of those with substance abuse and mental health problems. She was extremely passionate about understanding those issues. That commitment, combined with her public profile as an officer, helped her become and agent of change in law enforcement. Lisa worked hard to get others in the public safety realm to join her in the crusade to replace confinement with treatment - and she succeeded. Macomb County is now working towards that type of system.
Recently Lisa retired from the Fraser Department of Public Safety. But while her career in law enforcement has ended, her interest in helping society remains. I am confident that she will succeed in whatever adventure comes next and that any professional work she performs will benefit that organization and the populations they serve.
It is therefore my pleasure to recommend Lisa for all future endeavors. I am certain that she will bring to her next role the same passion and energy that she applied to her career in public safety. And I know she will be an asset to any organization or individual.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Detective Lisa Pettyes both while I was the Fraser High School principal and again during the time I served as Superintendent of Fraser Public Schools. In every instance, Lisa demonstrated a high level of professionalism as an officer and genuine care and concern for our students. Detective Pettyes is a gifted communicator who connects with students and adults at all levels. She is an expert in social justice, drug and alcohol prevention, first aid training, and cyber bullying. Whenever our district was in need of an expert facilitator on dealing with any of these challenging topics, our first call was to Lisa. She forged lasting relationships with everyone she worked with and was always a positive and impactful contributor to our team. The greatest compliment I could offer is that while she was employed by the Fraser Public Safety as an officer, she felt more like a member of our school district family.

I have worked with Ms. Pettyes in several capacities over the last 20 years. As a public safety officer, student advocate group leader, Fraser Community Action Team member to name a few. As the Physical Education Department Head, it is my duty to oversee and report on the competency of the Teachers in our department.
I find Ms. Pettyes to be an outstanding educator when asked to do so. She has presented to our Health students and teaching staff. She is well versed in class management and continuously demonstrates well-designed lessons that meet the needs of all of her students (and/or) teachers when presenting. Lisa displays an acute awareness of learning styles and relates to her students (and/or) teachers in a dynamic fashion. I have been continually impressed with Ms. Pettyes showing interest in the students/teachers outside of the classroom as well.
I have witnessed Ms. Lisa Pettyes’ professionalism and ability to be flexible, in a changing environment. She relates well with colleagues and maintains a professional demeanor in her actions and attitude toward others. Ms. Lisa Pettyes would be a tremendous asset to your school and community as she has continuously shown in Fraser Public Schools.

I have had the privilege of watching Lisa Pettyes present to our Fraser High School health classes for several years now. She is, without a doubt, the most impactful, real, relatable presenter I have ever seen in my 20 years in education. Not only does she educate and keep the attention of all listening to her, she also provides a safe space for every single person in the room. I know this because, year after year, hour after hour, I witness a high level of student participation and so many of the students choose to stay after the bell rings to introduce themselves and express their gratitude. Our community, students and staff, are forever grateful for her service and we are all better people for knowing her.

I asked Officer Lisa Pettyes if she could come discuss with our church leaders and our congregation how we, as a community, can be proactive in keeping our congregation and ourselves safe of terrorists and other violent individuals/groups.
Prior to the presentation, Officer Pettyes did a “walk-through” with me to review how we did things around the parish and gave me suggestions on what we can change to make the building a safer place for all.
Officer Pettyes made an excellent hour-long presentation. She not only communicated what to look for, but she also showed us how to react, how to physically react, how to protect ourselves.
After her presentation, Officer Pettyes answered questions from the audience. She answered every question asked - there were several. She gave us her complete and total attention. Officer Pettyes is an articulate communicator. She did an excellent job for our parish. Immediately after the presentation, several individuals commented that they felt better with the “tools needed” that Officer Pettyes taught us.
Since the presentation, Officer Pettyes continued to answer questions and inquiries we had. She cares about our community and the individuals. Officer Pettyes is a well-known, highly respected leader in our community.

I am the Safety Team lead at our church. Besides security we are the designated first responders for any medical emergency that might take place. Wanting to be better equipped we sought out several organizations that offer CPR, AED and Stop the Bleed classes and certification. Lisa checked all the boxes for us and then some. Her security survey of our building and procedures was helpful and very informative. The first aid classes were taught with high energy using illustrations and humor to drive home the material in a practical way. Her knowledge and passion to teach these classes was apparent from minute one to the end. We did practice drills until we got it right, with her coaching us along the way. Because of Lisa’s knowledge, passion and skill our team is better prepared to handle an emergency. I would recommend her to any organization, team or persons ready to step up their emergency preparedness.
